Room 13 is a class of Year Two and Three learners. We are in Totara Team. Our teacher is Ms Jones.

A chilly start to Term 3
We have a new teacher in our class this term.
Her name is Mrs McNaughton.
The children call her Mrs M.
For the first three weeks of this term she will come in on Thursdays and Fridays.
After that she will be with us every day for seven weeks.
.

It's been frosty in the mornings. We wrote a poem about winter:

We looked at frost and snow particles up close and decided to make some.

Here are close ups of frost crystals
Here are our drawings of them
Next we got some Room 10 children to come and show us how to fold paper to cut out frost shapes.
First you fold a square into a triangle....
Then you fold it again.....
Its important to be accurate in the folding.

Author Visit
We had a visit from a children's writer.
Her name is Talia Evered
She is a wonderful story teller.
Room 16 joined us to listen to her talk about writing.
Room 16 joined us to listen to her talk about writing.
Here are some photos of her reading us some of her books.
Talia puts a lot of expression into her storytelling.
She reminded us that we are all writers and that anyone can write exciting stories.
They just need to catch their ideas and write them down quickly before they forget them.
Still life drawing
We are learning to sketch objects using shading.
We make our sketch pencil whisper, talk and shout to help our drawings look 3 dimensional.
