Maps and plans

We are planting our kitchen gardens. Last term we wrote letters to the FUNdraising team to ask if they could help pay for a wooden fence behind the garden to keep it safe from people wanting to steal the food we grow there. They said yes!

Now we are thinking about other improvements to the garden area.
We made some plans and here they are .....

Nurturing Papatuanuku

Welcome back to our blog in term 4.

We have been busy since coming back to school after the holidays.
We are studying the natural world this term.
We are planting seeds and caring for our gardens.

Here are some photos of the things we have been doing so far this term.

Planting Seeds

We collected sweet pea pods at the end of last summer.
Today we got the seeds out and planted them in pots.

Here we are planting sunflower seeds we also collected last summer.

We are also planting giant pumpkin seeds
that we collected from our pumpkins last summer.

Shriya brought some sunflower seeds to school
that she brought from home.

We put some bean seeds in a glass viewer so we can watch then sprout through the glass.

Butterfly Garden

In the holidays the gardens around the school got some lovely new edges.

Dugan got some garden mix today and we spread
it in the Butterfly Garden.

We weeded and tidied the garden. It looks really good.

Farewell to Anne. Goodbye Term 3

Our Masters student, Anne Mason, finished her term with our class at the end of Term 3.
We celebrated her time with us with a shared lunch on our deck.

It was an action-packed last week of term.

We  had a Teddy Bear's picnic on the last day.

It was also a dress up day. Some children came in wonderful costumes!

We took our teddy bears down to Putikitiki at lunchtime.

There was a pirate in the Sandpit!
And Batman blew kisses!

Yippee! Holidays!

Its farewell  from Ms Jones and Over and Out from Anne.

Time to climb into a new term.........

A visit to Wilson Carlile Old People's Home

We visited the Wilson Carlile Rest home in the last week of term.
The rest home is across the road from our school.
We want to start a regular relationship with them. We intend to visit them in Term 4 to do crafts together.

We are on the stage ready to perform.

We took our rakau and performed E Papa Waiari.

Afterwards we had a chat with the residents.

Finally we had morning tea with the residents.
The people of Wilson Carlile loved our visit. They are looking forward to the next time we go there.
