Week 4

We've had such a busy week.

Here are some of the things we have been doing:

Buddy reading with Room 11

Every Friday we spend half an hour with our buddy class. We read together, sing songs, and draw. Room 11 are Year 5 and 6 children.

We explored the kitchen garden. It is a wilderness with the hugest sunflowers we have ever seen. We measured one. it was nearly four metres tall!!!!!

We picked beans.

We carefully looked at the sunflowers so we could draw them in Kidpix.

We picked basil to make pesto.
Whaia Katrina stepped us through the recipe to make salsa

In the Cool Kids Kitchen  Angelo cut the cherry tomatoes for salsa.

Here is our pesto and salsa, with pita bread.
Everybody enjoyed tasting the pesto and salsa. The basil was spicy from the garlic.

Delicious!

Whaia Katrina made Fruit Dream. It was made from frozen strawberries, eggwhites and sugar. MMMMMMmmmmmm! Delicious.

Angelo took us for fitness.

We wrote about picking food in the kitchen garden.

Week Three and swimming along nicely!

Every afternoon after lunch we go swimming with Room 1. We are making excellent progress in learning to kick, swim across the pool without touching the bottom, and to dive like dolphins.

We practise long arms.

Luckily we have our big deck to dry our togs. We leave them at school during the week so they are ready for swimming every afternoon.

Back to school in 2015

Welcome back to school everyone!

Our blog is called  Lucky 13 because we have a great classroom that has its very own elevated deck that looks out over Middle Flat and the river to the city.

We are also lucky because we have three teachers in our class instead on one. Angelo and Whaea Katrina will be working with us for the first two terms. This means the children gets lots of small group and individual teaching, and three times as much attention.

This blog will give parents and whanau information about what we are doing in our class, and is a place where we can show our best work. We look forward to reading your comments.

Today we created some self-portraits:
