treats and sketches

To celebrate Matariki we had soup and fry bread, served by some of our parents.

Emily had a birthday. She is seven.
She brought the class some cupcakes to celebrate.

Totara activities afternoons

We have spent our afternoons this week rotating around the Totara classes doing activities.
Room 13 sketched still life objects.

We learned to say:

Ko te toi ahau!

I am an artist

Skipathon

A great way to get warm on a cold grey Waikato morning is to have a skipathon!
Totara Team braved the winter conditions to skip around twelve stations.

Mystery Creek

Wow, we have fitted in a lot of stuff these last weeks!
We went on a trip to Mystery Creek Heritage Museum to learn about the olden days.
Look at the photos of our trip.

Alan told us about the Waikato back in the days when the first European settlers arrived.

People used to paint scenes before there were cameras to take photos.
Here is an early painting of the Waikato River

We did a treasure hunt to find objects and what they were used for.

Afterward we have lunch in the sun.
It was a freezing cold day!

This building is an old hospital

You can see the old garage and blacksmith's workshop

We thought it would be pretty awful to be put into stocks.
