Hi Room 13!!!!

Its me, Lambchops.
I'm so sorry I haven't had time to update the blog lately. Its because I've been so busy having a good time at the Argyle Luxury Spa Resort.

I am missing you all very much, and I intend to come back to school as soon as I can sneak into Ms Jones' car.

Meanwhile, here are some photos of my holiday.

Remember that strange animal that I told you about in my last blog post?
Well, I'm pleased to report that we have become very good friends.
His name is Arthur.
Here we are waiting on the compost bin for something.
I couldn't work out what that is because Arthur doesn't talk much.

Here is another strange creature I have met. She ignores me so I don't know what she thinks.

She has a sister. They are called Lucille and Bette.
Apparently they are named after two sirens of the screen.
I don't know what that means.

I think this is the best photo of me so far.
Having a glass of guava juice at the end of a long day trying to make conversation with  the strange creatures at the resort.

Adios amigos!
Here is another strange creature. This one says nothing and does nothing. I think it might be related to Bette and Lucille.

Lambchops' excellent holiday

Lambchops is our class mascot. She is very popular. Her fur is white but recently she has been looking a bit grey. Ms Jones took her home for a long hot bath.

Lambchops really likes it at Ms Jones's place. She has been keeping a holiday blog. ......

Hi Room 13!!!! Guess what!!!! I am on holiday at a luxury spa resort.
I know! I'm so lucky!

I have to say, I didn't really enjoy the first part. After my long hot bath I had to dry off in the open air. It wasn't very comfortable being pegged to the line by my ears and tail.
I did enjoy the view, though.
I don't think I'll ever get my ears pierced.
It was all worth it though.
Here I am waiting for my massage

Ahhh, this is the life!

Imagine my delight when I saw the weather forecast.
Fine weather ahead. Hooray! I can't wait till tomorrow.

A bit of yoga in front of the fire.

I really am having a wonderful time.
But I miss all my pals in Room 13.
I wonder what I'm missing at school?
ARRRRGGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!

There is another client at this resort.....
He's pretty creepy...

I'm too scared to sleep in case he does something unexpected.

Watch this space for the next instalment of my excellent adventure at the luxury resort!

I miss you, Room 13!!!!!

Inspiring ideas and humble pumpkins

We never thought pumpkins could be so much fun until this year.
For the Harvest Festival Room 13 made pumpkin chips. We harvested some of the pumpkins from the Kitchen Gardens.

We cut the pumpkins up.

And we baked the pumpkin chips in the oven with oil and salt.
They were delicious!
Here is the table with beautiful plates of food made from the things we grew.

Here's another dish made from pumpkins. Pumpkin pie!
Most children really liked the pumpkin pie made by Room 14.

 Pumpkin Festival at Hamilton Gardens

We entered Room 13s  and Room 4s pumpkins in the Hamilton Gardens Pumpkin Festival.
Check out the competition!

There was a section for carved pumpkins. This one was done by Hukanui School. They won first prize.

A pumpkin snake!

Holy moley!!!!!!
These were the two giant enormous stupendous amazingest pumpkins.

Hey! Where's our mum?!

Room 4 won second prize for the best shaped pumpkin.
And last, but certainly not least, here is Room 13s pumpkin in the heaviest pumpkin competition. Ours is the one smiling hopefully at the end. As you can see, we didn't win a prize. ......

But hey! Watch this space next year!!!!!!!!

World famous at Hamilton East School Giant Pumpkin competition

Yes folks, the time has finally come to reveal which class grew the heaviest pumpkin in our school giant pumpkin competition!
Last week we harvested the pumpkins and displayed them in the window of the resource room.
Then we started a competition to see who can guess the weight of the pumpkins.

Hmmm......... verrrrry tricky! How much does a pumpkin weigh?

The pumpkins varied greatly in size and weights.

Room 13 children carried the lighter ones to the resource room.
But we had to get Dugan to bring the heaviest ones in the wheelbarrow. The smallest ones were still pretty heavy!

Then on Friday at Positive Assembly we had the weigh-in.

Here are the pumpkins ready to be weighed.
Friday was also Race Relations Day and Room 13s entry into a poster competition called I am Aotearoa is displayed on the wall above the pumpkins.

The three heaviest pumpkins were grown by Room 4, Room 9 and Room 13.

Here's Ms Jones and Dugan weighing Room 4s pumpkin. It weighed 29 kilos!
Room 9 and Room 13s pumpkins were too close to call. About half the school thought Room 9s was the heaviest.
Here is Room 13s pumpkin on the scales. It weighed 37.25 kilos.
Room 9s was 36.75.

 Oh, so close!!!!

Room 13 won the giant pumpkin competition 2014 by half a kilo!

The winners of the competition will be announced at Positive Assembly this Friday.

Drawing still life

We spent Friday afternoon drawing fruit platters made up of apples, cape gooseberries and grapes from Ms Jones's garden. We will complete them next week, though we won't have the fruit anymore to look, draw, look at. MMMMMMMMmmmmmmm, it was delicious!

Self portraits

Here are some of our self portraits. We have practiced drawing our eyes noses and mouths in proportion and focused on just drawing our heads and shoulders. We are going to enter our portraits into a competition to design a poster for Race Relations Day.
